Safety in Transit and around Campus

safety around campus

Description

Whether you are traveling by foot, bike, Public transit, or car we want to ensure students feel safe on campus as well as getting to and from campus. There is support in place to help you feel safe while traveling:

  1. Transit Watch Program: is a program in collaboration with the city of Edmonton and Edmonton Transit System where riders can safely report crimes, such as harassment, disorder, or suspicious behavior directly to the ETS staff in the control center. Call or text Transit watch at 780-442-4900. For emergencies call 9-1-1.
  2. Safe walk: is a program by SAMU where volunteers assist students by walking them to their car, transit station, or a nearby location in the evening. Safe walk s located in the SAMU building (SA-216A). When a student requests a walk, a minimum of 2 volunteers will accompany that student. Text 780-975-5766 or approach the table setup in SA-216A or approach any of the volunteers on patrol. Operating hours: M-F, 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM.

Some tips for traveling safely:
